Vitamin E – Feed Your Skin, Starve Your Wrinkles

Feed Your Skin, Starve You're Wrinkles

Healthy Beauty & Style Guide, by Lisa D Liguori-

Considered to be THE anti-aging supplement, Vitamin E is a must-have addition to your skins beauty supplement regime.

Vitamin E is a confirmed antioxidant (antioxidants reduce oxidative stress) which fights skin aging from within and without.

Oxidative stress is caused by free radical damage, which in turn causes….you guessed it,  lines, wrinkles and sagging.

Ugh. I think I dislike the sagging the most.

Thank goodness, vitamin E can protect your skin and cell structures in your body from free radical damage. Which means less lines, wrinkles and sagging.

As We Mature…

In our 30's and early 40's we begin to produce more free radicals and less anti-oixdents. Not so good.

What Is Good?

Vitamin E can work internally through your diet, or applied directly to your skin. Double protection. That is good.

Applied to your skin it protects from UV light, a main cause of aging.

Through diet, it provides skin membranes with protection from free radical damage.

So, do you think you're getting enough vitamin E through your diet?

The best food sources of vitamin E are:

sunflower seeds, and its oil

olives and its oil

papaya

avocado

spinach and other leafy greens

and blueberries.

Wheat is also a good source of Vitamin E, however, it is only in the wheat germ, so if you are eating commercial brands of bread, odds are it has been processed out, even if it is whole grain.

Further, to maintain vitamin E content you need to keep your oils, nuts and seeds out of direct sunlight, in dark bottles, preferably refrigerated.

But heres the deal; even if you feel you are eating a diet rich in Vitamin E, in order to really gain the benefits to combat those free radicals you need to boost your intake of this essential skin vitamin.

Your convinced you need to supplement?

Here is what to look for:

1. You want a balance of gamma-tocopherol and alpha-tocopherols.

2. You want a natural Vitamin E, that occurs in foods, as opposed to synthetic which is not aborbed as well into the body.

The RDA for Vitamin E is 15 mg (22.5 IU), however, the most commonly recommended dosage to reap the full anti-aging benefits is between 100 & 400 IU.

Be sure to take your E with a meal.

Along with Vitamin E, another important aging-backward supplement is resveratrol.

By the way, studies have also shown that free radical damage plays a role in the development of cancer, obstructed arteries, Alzheimers Disease, and a host of other ailments. Vitamin E is a free radical fighter and comes to the rescue again.
